Computational Infrastructure

The Department of Computer Science provides a variety of platforms to meet your computing needs. A full list can be found on this comparison chart, but the most commonly used systems are described below.

Windows Remote Desktop Servers

Formerly called "Terminal Servers", we run an major "Remote Desktop Services" cluster: rdp.cs.iastate.edu.

To connect, just open your Remote Desktop Client (mstsc.exe, rdesktop, freerdp, etc.) and login with the appropriate username/password pair.

Linux Secure Shell Servers

We run one major "Secure Shell" (SSH) Linux server: pyrite.cs.iastate.edu. Both use your ISU username/password pair.
