The Department of Computer Science at Iowa State University offers a variety of major and minor programs designed to prepare students for exciting and rewarding careers. With a focus on both technical and soft skills, a degree from our program will teach you to be innovative, think logically, and solve problems efficiently – all valuable skills, whether you pursue a career in research, academia, or industry. 

Our undergraduate program includes core computer science and foundational math courses that will prepare you for specialized studies in data science, AI, cybersecurity, and software engineering. You can earn a bachelor’s of science or a bachelor’s of arts in computer science. We also offer minors in AI and computer science. 

For students looking to take their careers to the next level, we offer several graduate programs, including a master’s degree in AI – the first in Iowa – and a graduate minor in AI. You may also earn a master’s degree or Ph.D. in computer science.
