About ICPC
“Participating in ICPC is one of the most exciting and fruitful things I have ever been involved in. It sharpened my problem-solving skills and enhanced my ability to work under pressure, plus it is a good opportunity to do networking.” – Rodrigo Santamaria, ICPC programming contest participant
Ready to compete for bragging rights among top collegiate programmers? Iowa State is highly active in the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC). We compete in the North Central North America region (NCNA). Teams at the top of the heap advance to the contest's North American Championship (NAC), where they compete to go to the World Finals.
The NCNA region includes Minnesota, Wisconsin, Western Ontario, Manitoba, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Iowa State is proud to be a host site for the region each November. The date of the 2025 competition is Saturday, November 8, 2025. The date for the competition in 2026 will be announced at a later date.
As part of the Iowa State team, computer science students and non-majors meet for weekly team practices. You’ll form friendships, build your problem-solving skills, and gain valuable experience you can highlight in job interviews and technical interviews.
Whether you want to participate as a team member, mentor, or coach, there are plenty of ways to get involved with ICPC!
