Chunsheng “Sam” Xin received a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the University at Buffalo in 2002. He joined Iowa State University in August 2025 as the Chair of the Department of Computer Science. His research interests include cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and next generation wireless networks. Dr. Xin’s work has been supported by 49 federal and state grants, including funding from NSF, NSA, ONR, and Air Force Research lab, with a total amount of nearly $18 million. He has authored over 130 papers in journals and conference proceedings, written a book, and holds two U.S. patents. He has served as Co-Editor-in-Chief/Associate Editors of international journals, and symposium/track chairs of international conferences. Dr. Xin is a recipient of the IEEE Big Data Security Leadership Award, and three Best Paper Awards. He is a Fellow of IEEE.
