Concurrent Graduate Degrees

This process is for current Iowa State students who want to pursue two concurrent graduate degrees.

Application Process

Send us your unofficial transcript to csadmissions@iastate.edu with the subject line: "GRE Waiver Request for Concurrent Graduate Degree". This is to be evaluated for a GRE waiver. Your unofficial transcript can be downloaded from Access Plus. Within two weeks you will receive one of the following decisions:

  1. GRE Waiver Approved, or
  2. The GRE is required for your final application

If you choose to proceed with your application after receiving your GRE decision, you will need to submit the following materials by email to csadmissions@iastate.edu with the subject line: "Application for Concurrent M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science and List Your Current Degree and Major".

  1. GRE Scores or Approved GRE Waiver
  2. Statement of Purpose (Guidance)
  3. Resume/CV
  4. Request three ISU faculty to send this Letter of Recommendation Form to csadmissions@iastate.edu

International applicants are also required to submit:

  1. English Proficiency Exam Scores (TOEFL, IETLS, or DuoLingo)
  2. OECT, if you want to be considered for a teaching assistantship

Application Deadlines and Evaluation Timeline

For the transfer to begin in a Fall semester, a completed application must be submitted no later than March 1. Decisions will go out around than April 1

For the transfer to begin in s Spring semester, a completed application must be submitted no later than October 1.Decisions will go out around November 1

If Approved for Admission

If the student is notified that his/her application is accepted for admission, Nicole Lewis will work with them to complete the concurrent degree form.

International students on a visa should contact ISSO about any additional visa paperwork that may need to be filed if you require more time to complete your degree.
