CS Students Showcase Entrepreneurship and Innovation

Four computer science students competed in Iowa State University’s Standing Innovation pitch competition at the Iowa State Fair on Aug. 10 2019.

Saturday, Aug. 10 was designated “LAS Day” at the fair, and the students delivered a pitch, 90 seconds to five minutes long, to fairgoers - about an innovative and entrepreneurial idea. Students competed for an opportunity to advance to the semifinals and a chance to ultimately win a $5,000 prize. One pair of students gave their pitch twice in one hour, and fairgoers voted which of the two advanced to the semifinals.

CS Students Pitch Big Ideas

Dillon Jensen (’21 computer science) was awarded first place for his business idea which provides breweries with a dashboard of real-time performance data, utilizing micro devices. Jensen received a cash prize and advanced to the ISU Innovation Pitch Off on March 7, 2019.
