PhD Student

Shaila Sharmin is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Computer Science at Iowa State University specializing in software vulnerability research. She is currently working in the Program Analysis & AI Lab under the supervision of Dr. Wei Le. Her research interests include Software Engineering and Deep Learning, and her current work focuses on discovering code semantics for vulnerability detection tasks using both Deep Learning models and Large Language Models. Before starting her graduate studies, she completed her B.Sc. in Computer Science from Jahangirnagar University in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and then joined Therap, an American-based software firm located in Bangladesh, as a Software Engineer in the quality assurance department. While working at Therap, she simultaneously pursued her M.Sc. in Computer Science, blending practical industry experience with academic exploration
