The Robotics Club has been awarded a $10,000 grant from Greater Horizons. The award is one of the NHRL 2023 College and University Robotics Grants to provide up to 100 college robotics teams with the necessary resources to grow their creativity and utilize their full potential.

“This grant will definitely play an important role in boosting the club’s ongoing projects and providing new learning and exploration opportunities with robots,” says one of the club advisors, Dr. Yan-Bin Jia.

The Robotics Club is a student organization that provides the opportunity to learn about, build, and compete with robots in robotics competitions, either individually or in groups.

“We are very grateful for the opportunities the NHRL provides us through this grant. Our Autonomous Snowplow, Combat, and Exo Skeleton robotics teams are excited to put the money to good use by improving our robots and traveling to competitions!” added Ryan Sand, a Software Engineer student who filed the grant application.

Robotics Club President Shelby Murray added that the grant would be another positive step towards continuing to grow and help more students be able to participate in the club. “The Robotics Club is extremely honored to have received the NHRL grant. We've seen major growth within the club since returning to in-person, and this funding will support project materials, competition expenses, and resources for future outreach activities. Our fundraising team did an amazing job on the application, and the students participating in Robotics Club will surely benefit from the support!”
