Matthew Holman is a term faculty member in the Computer Science department at Iowa State University. He has recently graduated from the University of Idaho with his master’s degree in Computer Science after transitioning from a previous career in music. His previous career has allowed him to garner a substantial amount of university-level teaching experience, as well as a broad array ‘soft skills.’ These skills include proven leadership qualities and abilities, professionalism, and an ability to collaborate with colleagues to meet goals. He has also demonstrated ‘hard-skills’ in his new career, such as using languages like Python, C, and C++ to meet work objectives. He is seeking to apply his skillset to help teach Computer Science students in new, creative, and innovative ways.
