Abdullah Al Asif is a Ph.D. student studying Computer Science at Iowa State University. He is interested in computer vision, natural language processing, and psychology. His goal is to develop intelligent agents that can understand the visual world beyond recognizing labels or sentences under human supervision. As a research associate at BRAC University, Asif conducted a randomized controlled trial (RCT) project on household electricity consumption and customer behavior in Dhaka. In addition, he developed a machine-learning-based method to prioritize poorer households for poverty and inequality alleviation. He also analyzed satellite imagery's nighttime light data to determine nightlight luminance in Bangladesh using QGIS.
