ISU Team Heads to ICPC Nationals

On November 4, Iowa State University hosted a regional site for the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC). This year, 130 teams participated. Twenty-five teams from Drake University, Simpson College, Graceland University, and Iowa State University competed at our regional site.

Team Proof By AC, composed of Iowa State University students Omar Muhammetkulyyev (Software Engineering), Rudolph Nahra (Electrical and Computer Engineering and Mathematics), and Jose Rodrigo Santamaria (Computer Science) qualified for the national competition. The top teams from the top five universities at each regional contest go on to the national competition, with Iowa State coming in third. They are one of 50 teams to qualify to compete at the national contest, to be held in Orlando, Florida in May 2024.

The regional ICPC contest is hosted thanks to the work of our site coordinator, Iowa State Computer Science Associate Professor Gurpur Prabhu and Iowa State Computer Science Teaching Professor Simanta Mitra. The event was put on in part thanks to donations from industry leaders including Collins Aerospace, who came and spoke at our event. Iowa State Computer Science graduate students also volunteered to help make the event an outstanding success.
