Computer Science Alumni Tom Miller, Srinivas Aluru, Bill Bock, and Professor Emeritus and former Chair, George Strawn will be honored during the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences' Honor and Awards Ceremony and the Iowa State University Alumni Association's Honors and Awards Ceremony during Homecoming 2017.
George Strawn will receive the Distinguished Service Award,which recognizes alumni, faculty and friends of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences who have demonstrated outstanding service or academic contributions that further the educational mission of the college.
Tom Miller will receive the Citation of Merit Award Award, which recognizes distinguished alumni of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences who have demonstrated outstanding achievement and received national or international recognition.
Srinivas Aluru will be awarded the John V. Atansoff Discovery Award, which recognizes alumni of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences who have significantly advanced scientific knowledge through laboratory accomplishments and/or management. The award recognizes the achievements of John V. Atanasoff and graduate student Clifford Berry, who invented the world’s first electronic digital computer.
Bill Bock will be receiving the Department of Computer Science Distinguished Alumni Award.
