Cassidy and Camryn Williams Featured in Microsoft Research/NCWIT Promotional Video

Computer Science at Iowa State has a number of outstanding women students. Two of them are Cassidy and Camryn Williams. These sisters both major in Computer Science and aspire to make an impact not just on women in computing, but all students in computing. "This major seems to have a lot of students who are interested in exchanging skills, so we are always learning from others and sharing our own knowledge," commented Cassidy, in a recent interview for an upcoming feature in the spring issue of Atanasoff Today, the CS alumni publication.

During their fall 2012 trip to Baltimore, MD to the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing, Cassidy and Camryn were filmed for a feature spot in a Microsoft Research video on the NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing. This program honors young women in high school for their computing-related achievements and interests. Cassidy and Camryn were both winners of this award when they were in high school. Today, they are active in a number of student groups on campus, including Digital Women, CSE Club, the Game Development Club, as well as non-computing groups such as Salsa & Swing Dancing and the Salt Company Student Ministry. More on Cassidy and Camryn's adventures at ISU, their thoughts on women in computing, and their internships in the IT industry will be featured in the next issue of Atanasoff Today, projected to be out this spring.
