Gloria Cain, undergraduate advisor for Computer Science, is the recipient of a 2009 CYtation award from the ISU Professional and Scientific Council. The CYtation Awards recognize staff members who go above and beyond the call of duty, do something extraordinarily well, or make a significant difference to others through the performance of their jobs. "I was really surprised when I got the email about the award," Cain stated. "I think it is a pretty fantastic honor."
Cain was nominated for the CYtation award by Computer science faculty member Dr. Gurpur Prabhu. "Gloria is an unsung hero to hundreds of undergraduate students in our department. Her dedication and commitment to Iowa State University and the students of computer science is exhibited in her daily interactions with our student community as well as her involvement in student-generated extracurricular activities. Gloria has always performed above and beyond her role as an academic advisor and made a very real difference in the lives of hundreds of students who still have fond memories of her."
