Panel discussion on future of business and technology

Computer scientists, business professionals, and students gathered together in ISU's Memorial Union on Friday, September 2, for a panel discussion on an increasingly important subject -- the future of business and technology. Panel members and attendees probed into issues of where technology is headed, the need to foster a blend of both technical and personal skills in our students, outsourcing, and values that have guided the panelists in their own success.

Moderating the panel was former Cargill corporate vice president Lloyd Taylor. Mr. Taylor remains active in the School of Business here at Iowa State, serving on the MIS Advisory Council. He led a panel of four highly distinguished individuals, three of which are Iowa State alumni. These include Douglas Troxel, founder and chair of San Francisco-based SERENA software company; David Kingland, president of Kingland Systems, Corp.; and Jeff Townsend, chief of staff at Cerner Corp. The remaining panelist was the department of computer science's own department chair, Dr. Carl Chang.
