Professor Myra Cohen, Lanh and Oanh Chair in software engineering, gave a keynote talk in July in Porto de Galinhas, Brazil, at the ACM International Conference on the Foundations of Software Engineering (FSE). FSE is an internationally renowned forum for researchers, practitioners, and educators to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, experiences, and challenges in the field of software engineering, and brings together experts from academia and industry to exchange the latest research results and trends as well as their practical application in all areas of software engineering.
Professor Cohen’s talk, entitled “It’s Organic: Software Testing of Emerging Domains” discussed research she, her students, and collaborators have been conducting in software testing of emerging and scientific domains. Software in these domains often lack clear requirements, may behave non-deterministically, and may be generated (at least in part) automatically. Her talk was relevant to both those working in scientific domains as well as those advancing the testing of AI generated code. She discussed the future of software testing within this context.
