Undergraduate Minor in Computer Science

Are you interested in enhancing your skillset with a foundation in computer science? Our undergraduate minor in computer science can help you enhance your resume by increasing your skills, knowledge, and confidence in software development, theory, problem-solving, and more.

This minor can be a great fit for students in majors such as mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, mathematics, data science, or other disciplines with a strong quantitative focus.

The minor requires at least sixteen credits in computer science courses, and must include at least nine credits that are not used to meet any other department, college, or university requirement.

  • COMS 4140 cannot be used to fulfill minor requirements.
  • A minimum grade of C- is required in COMS 2270 and COMS  2280.
  • A minimum grade of C is required in both COMS 3110 and the three credits of 3000-level computer science courses and above.
  • At least 6 credits of the minor must be in courses numbered 3000 and above and taken at ISU with a grade of C or higher.
