George Strawn Receives Alumni Career Achievements Award from CS Dept

Photo of George Strawn receiving awardDuring the LAS fall homecoming awards ceremony on November 7, George Strawn (PhD 1969) was awarded the Alumni Career Achievements Award by the CS department. George is currently the Director of the National Coordination Office for U.S. Networking and IT Research and Development, and serves as the Chair of the CS External Advisory Board. During his years as faculty at ISU, he served as CS Department Chair, and Director of the ISU Computation Center. He was involved with the reconstruction of the ABC computer, and contributed to the naming of the computer science building "Atanasoff Hall." Strawn describes the 30 years he spent at Iowa State as a student, faculty member and administrator as "the formative year of my life. I was very fortunate to have spent so much time at such a great university."
