About Our Speakers
Caner Ferhatoglu serves as a Data Scientist at Corteva Agriscience, based in Johnston, Iowa, where he works within the Data Science group under the Farming Solutions & Digital department. His role centers on building pipelines that generate environmental and agronomic datasets by integrating data from field trials, remote sensing, and genomics to support agricultural decision-making. He contributes to database management, tool development, and data analysis for identifying yield-limiting risk factors. Caner has significantly advanced Corteva’s data infrastructure by developing scalable pipelines and foundational datasets that enable more accurate, efficient, and accessible insights across multiple agricultural domains. He also engages in cross-functional collaborations and public outreach, including serving as a panelist, representing Corteva at booths, delivering presentations, and leading site tours. He holds a Ph.D. in Soil Science from Iowa State University, where he specialized in applying data science to improve soil mapping.
Tom Tang serves as a Senior Data Scientist at Corteva Agriscience. Within the data science group, Tom focuses on developing predictive models that play a crucial role in evaluating, designing, and optimizing farming solutions aimed at enhancing the productivity and sustainability of seed and crop protection products. Tom holds a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Beijing Normal University in China and a Doctorate in the same field from Iowa State University. Since joining the company in 2012, Tom has utilized his extensive mathematical and statistical expertise to integrate diverse data sources from greenhouse, field, remote sensing, and genomics, thereby maximizing prediction accuracy. Tom's innovative approaches and dedication to data science have significantly contributed to the company's success in advancing agricultural technologies and solutions.
