Breeding for healthier and more nutritious vegetables in the era of AI and Big Data

We will give an overview of our main initiatives to digitize the RD pipeline in order to design and develop new vegetable products. There will be an overview of things like digital phenotyping, ML/AI analytics, and predictive breeding, with emphasis on explaining how technologies enable our business.

About Our Speaker

 Dr. Mendez-Costabel holds a degree (BSc) from Uruguay, and degrees from The University of California at Davis (MSc) and The University of Adelaide in Australia (PhD). He has worked over fifteen years in the agricultural sector covering a range of digital farming and precision agriculture-related roles for E&J Gallo Winery in California. He joined Bayer in 2016 and worked to build a geospatial platform supporting ML/AI driven insights. He is currently the VP of Data Science and Engineering in the Vegetables Research & Development organization within Bayer Crop Science leading its digital strategy towards developing better and more sustainable seed products.
