Spring 2023 Graduate Program Application Opens February 1, 2022

Deadlines:

• Pre-applications must be approved before submitting a final application.
• The pre-application deadline is one month before the final application deadline.
• Each term has an early and a standard application deadline.
• The early deadline is suggested for international applicants requiring a new visa and Ph.D. applicants interested in competitive scholarships/grants.

Entry Terms - New graduate students typically start during the Fall and Spring terms. Summer entry is possible only if there is an urgent need, such as an expiring visa. Please contact csadmissions@iastate.edu for summer entry approval.

Fall 2022 Standard Admission - The only difference between early and standard admission is the competitive scholarships available for Ph.D. applicants during the early admissions cycle.

• Pre-Applications can be submitted between September 1, 2021 and February 15, 2022.
• If invited to continue, your full application can be submitted any time after approval until March 15, 2022.
• Standard admission decisions will be communicated on a rolling basis starting in April 2022. Ph.D. applicants are typically notified first. MS admission decisions will start to go out in early April 2022.
• Applicants may be notified that they are on a waitlist for Fall 2022.

Spring 2023 Early Admission - Recommended for Ph.D. applicants interested in competitive admissions scholarships and any international applicant who needs a visa.

• Pre-Applications can be submitted between February 1, 2022 and May 15, 2022.
• If invited to continue, your full application can be submitted any time after approval until June 15, 2022.
• Early admission admission decisions will be communicated on a rolling basis starting in late September 2022. Ph.D. applicants are typically notified first. MS admission decisions will start to go out in late October 2022.
• Applicants may be notified that they are on a waitlist for Spring 2023.

Spring 2023 Standard Admission - The only difference between early and standard admission is the competitive scholarships available for Ph.D. applicants during the early admissions cycle.

• Pre-Applications can be submitted between February 1, 2022 and July 15, 2022.
• If invited to continue, your full application can be submitted any time after approval until August 15, 2022.
• Standard admission decisions will be communicated on a rolling basis starting in October 2022. Ph.D. applicants are typically notified first. MS admission decisions will start to go out in late October 2022.
• Applicants may be notified that they are on a waitlist for Spring 2023.

Application Instructions

• Apply to Iowa State University: Please submit your university application for admission. Instructions for U.S. citizens and international students are included on the admissions website. Please follow the instructions in the ISU graduate application regarding the statement of purpose. We do not accept paper copies of application materials.
• Additional materials sent to the department, such as certificates, additional statements of purpose, etc...are not guaranteed to be included in your application file.
