My research interest lies in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and computational neuroscience. I am currently interested in grammar learning and concept learning. I'm also interested in neural and probabilistic modeling of perception and motor, as well as their potential applications in AI and Robotics.
Before coming to ISU, my research was focused on ontology engineering, including automatic ontology mapping and schema matching, ontology inference, and ontology visualization. In ontology mapping research, I improved previous approaches by better combining multiple mapping strategies using meta-learning. For ontology inference, my colleagues and I designed an efficient algorithm to perform RDF(S) reasoning on relational database. For ontology visualization, we proposed a novel approach to visualize large-scale ontologies in a holistic way. I also participated in and later led the development of an integrated ontology engineering environment called ORIENT. See my publications for the details.
Context-free grammar learning and applications
I'm currently a TA of ComS 103 (Computer Literacy and Applications). I was a TA for ComS 227 (Introduction to Object-Oriented Programming) and ComS 342 (Principles of Programming Languages) in previous semesters. Before coming to ISU, I was a TA for a few years when pursuing my Master degree in Shanghai JiaoTong University.
