Hi, this page is to acknowledge where I got a lot of my web design and/or code ideas from. I can't pretend to understand absolutely everything in every detail on my site any more and a lot of other people have put in a lot of time to figure it out so credit where credit is due:

  • Much thanks to sneaky peeks of Chris Ashworth's (aka Smashworth!) web page for redesign ideas and code. I'm no good at XHTML compatibility (says the guy who spent 2001-2 at a job writing web pages) and his code gave me a huge head start on putting this all together.
  • Quotations from many locations but inspired by Chris's page (above) and Balaji Venkatachalam's minimalist web page.
  • Thanks to the Department of Computer Science here at Iowa State for the space. The look of the web pages for the department inspired me to redo my pages (if only to verify similar stuff can be done non-crappily under the hood).

I also nabbed some graphics from various sites and it was hard to link them in the page:

  • The painting for the Photographs header is from the Salvador Dali Art Gallery - lots of nifty paintings online there! The one I used is Figure at a Window, 1925 - it's surprising it's a Dali, no?
  • The Mandelbrot for the CS web pages is from somewhere off a Google search for "Computer Science" - I did a chromatic involution to get a nicer color.
  • The graphic above is altered from the Adult Swim character Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law who defends various cartoon characters. Some examples are defending Shaggy against accusations of smoking pot and showing Fred Flintstone is not the "Dabba Don".The image is actually from a random posting that Google found. It also reminds me of how much crap is posted on public boards sometimes.
