My primary research interest is machine learning with emphasis in probabilistic graphical models for natural language and images. I am also interested in active learning, semi-supervised learning, learning from semantically heterogeneous distributed data, dimensionality reduction methods, ontologies, regularization and visualization.

I am co-organizing NIPS workshop on Cost Sensitive Learning.
I helped organizing KDD Cup 2008 (with Balaji Krishnapuram)
