Welcome to the homepage of Harris Lin. I am a Ph.D. student in the Computer Science program at Iowa State University. My advisor is Dr. Vasant Honavar, who directs the Artificial Intelligence Research Laboratory and Center for Computational Intelligence, Learning, and Discovery. My primary research falls within the field of data mining. Specifically, I am interested in theory and algorithms for learning predictive models from structured and semantically heterogeneous data, with applications to social networks, biological interaction networks, business intelligence, data integration, etc. In addition, I am interested in various aspects of the semantic web such as description logics, logic reasoners, and modular ontologies. I also collaborate with Dr. Oliver Eulenstein on Phylogenetics and the Tree of Life project in the Computational Biology Laboratory. I was born in Taipei, Taiwan. At the age of 12, my family and I immigrated to Auckland, New Zealand, where I spent my high school and college life. Before coming to Iowa State University, I worked for several years in the software industry in Auckland, including Compac Sorting Equipment and Peace Software. |
