Welcome !
Hello!!! This is Hsin-yi Jiang. I am a Ph.D. student in Computer Science Department, Iowa State University. My major professor is Prof. Carl K. Chang.
Background Information
I am from Yuan-lin, Chung Hua, Taiwan. My major was Mathematics in undergraduate program. I got my B.S. degree in National Taiwan Normal University. After that, I taught Mathematics in Yuan-lin junior high school for one year. Then, I got my M.S. degree (major: Applied Math) in National Chung Cheng University.
Research Area
I am interested in the link between theory of Genetic Algorithm and real-world application (currently, the real-world application is focused on Software Engineering, e.g., project management, or software testing).
Research Overview
Many problems in software engineering (SE) can be formulated as optimization problems. Genetic algorithm (GA) is one of the more effective tools for solving such optimization problems and has attracted the attention of SE researchers in recent years. However, there is a general lack of sound support theory to help SE researchers investigate the applicability of GA to certain classes of SE problems. Without such a theory, numerous attempts to conduct a wide spectrum of experiments for solution validation appear to be ad hoc and the results are often difficult to generalize. Our Research is aimed at solving this problem by theoretically developing a series of evaluation metrics for the applicability of GA so that the linkage between theory of GA and application of GA can be more strengthened.
