I understand that in this class I will use many important bioinformatics software tools obtained from some genome research centers and scientists for my projects. I will also use some of their actual genomic data as project material. I know that our licensers support higher education, and are willing to let me use their proprietary software tools and data. However, they asked that I only use them in my class, and absolutely do not distribute them outside of my class account.
These licensers include, but are not limited to
The Institute for Genomic Research (Venter Institute)
University of Washington at Seattle
Dr. Xiaoqiu Huang at ISU
I understand that additional licensers may be added to the list above when the Instructor adds new software to the class account. I agree that the same licensing terms I agree below will be equally applicable toward any newly added software tool or data for the class in the future.
To cope with the the licensing requirement set forth by our licensers, I agree to the following general licensing terms regarding the bioinformatics software tools (hereby called tools) and genomic data (hereby called data) used in our class:
1. I will use the tools and data only in my account, and only for the purpose of conducting the projects of this class.
2. I will not copy the tools or data to another account or computer without the permission of the Instructor.
3. I will not use the tools in any other work unrelated to the class, even within my own class account.
4. I will obtain the tools myself if I need to use them for my own research. I understand that I can usually sign individual license(s) directly with the licenser(s) to obtain my own copies.
In addition to the general licensing terms above, I also agree to the specific license agreements which came with the various bioinformatics tools and are collected together in the class account public directory ~cs596/pub/license.
