Spring 2005: Advanced Data Structures
Course Policies and Requirements

• The Scribe Notes need to be written in latex. They should be complete and go beyond just copying what I write on the board. To allow for continuity, I would like students to sign up to take notes for both lectures in a given week. Notes should be ready within a week.

  Refer to the Note-Taking Schedule page and sign up to take notes.

• Assignments will be announced in lecture and posted on the Assignments page. There will be about 6 to 8 homework problems split into 2 or 3 assignments. This will consist of written problems (e.g., design an algorithm or a data structure, prove a lower bound, extend or modify a result presented in class).

• The project will include a written report and an oral presentation. This will involve reading a number of research papers on a particular topic, writing a critical survey of the papers, as well as coming up with your own data structure and analyzing it. More information, including ideas for topics, will be posted later in the Projects page.

• 10% -- Classroom Participation
