NET PRACTICE TO PROJECT MANAGEMENT (Patent Pending)

Software project managers are challenged by the technical and managerial complexity inherent in the software development life cycle. We developed a formalism intended to capture the concurrent, iterative and evolutionary nature of software engineering management. This representation, which is called PM-Net (or Project Management Net), is proposed as the foundation for capturing tasks, resources and artifacts to manage software development projects. In particular, PM-Net as designed to support a novel genetic-algorithm based search strategy designed to find optimal or near-optimal solutions to the resource allocation and project scheduling problems. Results of simulation runs are presented as support for our approach. Project management tools vendors are invited to exploit such innovative results to improve their products.
