   MEETING NET REAL

Meeting Net is taking the advantage of the ever expanding Internet and aims at facilitating Web-based multimedia conferencing among different people spread all over the world. Several prototypes of the Meeting Net system have already been developed and showed great potential for the real world use.

The current Meeting Net Real project is mainly focused on M-Net server architecture redesign and implementation.  The new design should be able to take the full advantage of the advanced features in Java language.  The goal of this reengineering process is to make the M-Net server to be a robust, universal, efficient, functional, flexible and extensible server in order to provide reliable service for a variety of different M-Net application features.

The new design includes an integrated Microsoft SQL database connection, a hierarchical three- tier architecture of M-Net servers, multiple communication port to support different M-Net Real application tools, a standard open communication interface for M-Net Real features development, a flexible fully configurable server system based on Java's dynamic class loading mechanism, and a simple, intuitive GUI for meeting member to register to, participate in and control over Web-based meetings.

At the present time, M-Net Real supports features named Chat, Whiteboard, Slideshow, I-land (information archiving) and bulletin board, e-mail, ftp, instant messaging , VoIP (Voice), voice mail, FoIP (Fax), and a fully T1-configurable PBX switch for dedicated audio links. Standards such as T-120 and H-323 are being exploited. The emerging wireless application protocol (WAP) is being investigated for mobile users of M-Net.
