A number of changes in the requirements, as set forth both by Iowa State University and the Department of Computer Science, have taken place. Iowa State University is requiring all students to have at least one course that has been classified a U.S. Diversity course and at least one course that has been classified as an International Perspectives course. Students from countries other than the United State whose native language is not English will have been considered to have completed the International Perspectives requirement by virtue of their attending Iowa State University.

All students are required to earn a 2.0 GPA in order to graduate from Iowa State University. Beginning with the 1993-95 General Catalog, all students are also required to earn a 2.0 GPA in their designated major courses.

All students must demonstrate English proficiency by satisfactorily completing Engl 104 and 105 and Lib 160. Proficiency level required by the Department of Computer Science is C- or better.
