Department to Kickoff Celebration of 40th Anniversary April 18-20, 2007

Coinciding with VEISHEA and the 150th Anniversary of Iowa State University, the Department of Computer Science will begin a yearlong celebration of its 40th Anniversary (1968-2008) Wednesday, April 18th through Friday, April 20th, 2007.  A series of events will be held on campus throughout the following year (through April 2008), beginning with the kickoff week as follows:

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007:
6pm-7pm (207 Marston Hall):
     Mike Upah
     ISU Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship
     How to Start a Software Company


Thursday, April 19th, 2007:
1pm-4pm - 40th Anniversary Welcome Center: 223 Atanasoff Hall (refreshments)
4pm (2055 Hoover Hall):
     Robert Stewart Distinguished Lecture:
     John E. Hopcroft (Cornell University)
     Computer Science in the Information Age

5pm-6pm: Reception, Hoover Hall Corridor/Atrium, 2nd floor (outside of 2055)

Friday: April 20th, 2007:
all day - 40th Anniversary Welcome Center: 223 Atanasoff Hall (refreshments)
10am-4:30pm: Distinguished Alumni Forum
     10am-11am - coffee break & cookies (40th Anniversary Welcome Center: 223 Atanasoff Hall)

(Note: There will be road closure of Beach Avenue between Lincoln Way and Center Drive, so please remember to approach the Iowa State Center/Scheman Building by turning on to Center Drive from Elwood Drive).

Saturday, April 21st, 2007:
VEISHEA events will be held central to the ISU campus during this entire week (April 16th-22nd), with main events held Saturday, April 21st.  Visit the VEISHEA 2007 - A Timeless Tradition web site for full information.

Alumni of the Computer Science Department have been mailed a postcard with 40th Anniversary Kick-off Celebration information (a Reply Card is included).  Reserve the above dates on your calendar now and plan to attend!
