The Department of Computer Science has received a generous gift of licenses from Serena Software, Inc. for their Serena Requirements Traceability Management (RTM™) tool. RTM helps users track requirements of software development projects, leading to more robust products that meet and exceed clients' expectations. All told, the licenses are worth $109,692.

Founder and chairman of the California-based company is Douglas D. Troxel, who received a B.S. in mathematics from Iowa State. Troxel attended Iowa State before the Department of Computer Science was formed, but his "love for programming" spurred him westward during the initial Silicon Valley boom of the 1970s. Recently he returned to Iowa State to participate in a panel discussion on the Future of Business and Technology
