Computer Science Scholarships

Arthur Anderson - $500.00/year for 1 undergraduate student funding permitting.

Arthur A. Collins Education Fund – Amount varies – usually 1 undergrad and 1 grad - $1,000 and $2,000 per year each respectively. Undergraduate requirements: Minimum GPA 3.0, demonstrated leadership positions in campus organizations and community affairs, personal integrity, based on recommendations from faculty and advisors, preference given to Iowa residents and US citizens. Graduate requirements: Minimum GPA of 3.30, recommendations from advisors in their area of study, leadership positions in campus organizations, personal integrity, preference given to residents of Iowa, preference given to US citizens.

Hewlett Packard - $500.00/year for 1 undergraduate student. Requirements: Minimum GPA of 3.0 through all course work, recommendation of faculty and advisors, Junior or Senior standing, US citizen. (This award depends on available funding)

Laura Vernon award - $50 from Computer Science and $50 from LAS per year for 1 undergraduate student.

Alcoa Minority Student Research Assistantships – Available for eligible minority students, amount varies depending on commitment of student – 10-20 hours per week.

Cerner - $1,000/year or $500/year for 1 undergraduate student each. Requirements: CS major, minimum GPA 3.0, Jr/Sr. standing, student member the ISU Computer Science (ACM) student organization, relevant part-time work/internship experience in the field of computer technology (this piece of the profile is optional, if all other parts of the criteria are equal, Cerner would prefer a recipient who has practical experience, however, if a worthy candidate does not exist, only the first four criterion must be met.)

John Vincent Atanasoff Graduate Award – Varying amount – awarded to an outstanding graduate student to encourage continuation of study for the PhD. degree. This endowment was made in the memory of Clark Mollenhoff by the Atanasoffs.

Computer Science Scholarship Fund - Depending on funding availability, 3 - $500 scholarships, one for the outstanding Junior student, one for the outstanding sophomore student and the third for any qualifying student who meets the general criteria of GPA at 3.0 or above, recommendation of advisors and faculty, with additional criteria such as activities supporting the department, other students, the community all being considered.

LAS Scholarships
