Abstract:

Protein structures have been determined and deposited into Protein Data Bank at an increasing rate. The existing protein structures in the PDB were organized into a structure-based protein wild-type and mutant ensemble database in a previous work. The database grouped the wild-type and mutant structures of the same proteins together, thus making the structure ensembles of these proteins easily accessible. However, this mutant structure database was stored and presented in tables in the html file format. With over 44,000 different protein structures and over 295,000 records of PDB-IDs/chain-IDs stored in html tables, this database is difficult to browse, let alone to search. In this work, a database system supported website is designed to make this mutant structure database easier to use. Combined with HTML, PHP and MySQL, the improved database website is easy to browse, sort, or search, either by protein names or by PDB-IDs.
