Endowed Chair in Software Engineering Established By Distinguished Alumnus Dr. Long Nguyen

The Lanh and Oanh Nguyen Endowed Chair in Software Engineering is being established with a $1.5 million committment by distinguished alumnus Dr. Long Nguyen (Ph.D., 1975, computer science, center in photo) and his wife Kimmy. Department Chair and Professor Carl Chang has described that this endowed chair will help position and transform the department from excellence to superiority in the field of software engineering, which is evolving and growing rapidly.

In 1985 Dr. Long Nguyen founded and is currently CEO of Pragmatics, Inc., a company that provides information technology solutions to the federal government and commercial firms. Pragmatics has recently been externally assessed at Level 4 of the Software Engineering Institute's Capability Maturity Model/Capability Model Maturity Integration (SEI CMM/CMMI).
