The Computer Science Learning Community offers incoming students a unique opportunity to live in an inclusive community, meet and work with other Computer Science majors, and participate in departmental activities. CS Learning Community has regular study sessions and social activities.
Learning Community members have access to cost-free, one-on-one tutoring, available through the Academic Success Center. If you feel that study sessions for Com Sci 227 or other courses are not helping enough, stop and talk to a peer mentor, or contact the Academic Success Center for additional help. The CS Learning Community will pay for your individual tutoring sessions.
Are you interested in being a peer mentor for the CS Learning Community? Peer mentors can function as residential mentors who live on the same dorm floor as the Learning Community, or they can be non-residential mentors who assist students academically through study sessions for relevant CS courses. If you would like more information about being a peer mentor, contact Chris Johnson (cjohnson@cs.iastate.edu). .
