Welcome

Take Com S 103, "Computer Literacy and Applications", via the World Wide Web! This four-credit course is entirely online and accessible through WebCT. For the summer class, students must attend the online orientation through WebCT in the first week of the semester.

For sections 1, 2, and 3 students must take several exams throughout the semester in room 60 Carver Hall test center at ISU. Students in these sections need to take 4 hands-on simulation tests in the SAM database environment besides the Mid-term and Final exams.

For the section XW (off campus class for non-fulltime ISU students (who take

under 12 credit hours including 4 credit hours COMS 103 XW course in the summer) or non-ISU students only), students will attend online orientation and take examinations in a proctored environment.  If you are in Ames during the summer,

you can take these tests in room 60

Carver Hall test center.  Students in the section XW do not need to take the SAM tests. All of the 6 tests are written tests (multiple choice).

It is the department's policy that students should not switch sections once the course starts.
We will provide face-to-face help desks each week to answer any questions and solve any problems students may have. We hope you enjoy this course and benefit from the modern pedagogy that advocates collaborative and just-in-time learning. We look forward to your active participation in the course!
