Room 60 Carver Hall Test Center, Summer 2008 Schedule

Note: This instruction is for COMS 103 on campus class only (Sections 1 to 3).
 

For sections 1-3 on campus classes, students must take 6 tests in room 60 Carver Test Center at Iowa State University.  The 6 tests include 4 hands-on simulation tests in the SAM database environment, and the Mid-Term and Final Exams.  Please do not register for section 1, 2 or 3 if you can not take these 6 tests in the test center.  Please see the test schedule on this page.

For section XW off campus class (for non-fulltime ISU students (who take under 12 credit hours including 4 credit hours COMS 103 XW course in the summer) or non-ISU students only), students must take 6 tests in a proctored environment. If you are in Ames during the summer, you can take these tests in room 60 Carver Hall test center.  Students in the section XW do not need to take the SAM hands-on simulation tests. All of the tests are written tests (multiple choice). Students in the section XW do not need to buy a SAM CD as well. The detailed information will be posted within WebCT class and ISU continue education website.

It is the department's policy that students should not switch sections once the course starts. 

 

 

Sections 1 – 3 students must take the Mid term exam, Final exam and Office  – Word, Excel, Access and Assessment 4 comprehensive Tests in the Room 60 Carver Hall Test Center. Here is the schedule.

I.  How To Take Mid-Term and Final Exams?
You need to take the mid-term and the final exams in room 60 Carver Hall Test Center. You will need to show the proctor your picture ID.    Log in to WebCT. On the course homepage, click the "Assessment" link. On the "Assessment" page click on the link to the exam you want to take. You will then be prompted to enter a password. The proctor will enter this password so you can access the exam.  When you are finished with the test click on the "Finish" button, click the “View Attempts” button to view your grade. 

A) Mid – Term Exam is only available in the following dates and times:

1)      Monday (July 7, 8 am – 11:30am, 12:30 – 3:00pm)

2)     Tuesday (July 8, 8 am – 11:30am, 12:30 – 3:00pm)

3)   Wednesday (July 9, 8 am – 11:30am, 12:30 – 6:00pm)

3)      Thursday (July 10, 8 am – 11:30am, 12:30 – 6:00pm)

4)    Friday (July 11, 8 am – 11:30am, 12:30 – 3:00pm)

Note:

* The room is not available during the weekend. 
* The deadline is on Friday (July 11, 3pm).  (The deadline is not on Sunday.)

B) Final Exam is only available in the following date and times:

1)      Monday (August 4, 8 am – 11:30am, 12:30 – 3:00pm)

2)     Tuesday (August 5, 8 am – 11:30am, 12:30 – 3:00pm)

3)      Wednesday (August 6, 8 am – 11:30am, 12:30 – 6:00pm)

4)   Thursday (August 7, 8 am – 11:30am, 12:30 – 6:00pm)

5)       Friday (August 8, 8 am – 11:30am, 12:30 – 3:00pm)

II.   How to Take the Office Tests?

You need to take 4 office comprehensive assessment tests in room 60 Carver Hall Test Center. You will need to show the proctor your picture ID.     

A) Office Assessment Test 1 – Word Hands-on Test:

1)     Monday (June 30, 8 am – 11:30am, 12:30 – 3:00pm)

2)     Tuesday (July 1, 8 am – 11:30am, 12:30 – 3:00pm)

3)      Wednesday (July 2, 8 am – 11:30am, 12:30 – 6:00pm)

4)   Thursday (July 3, 8 am – 11:30am, 12:30 – 6:00pm)

5)      Friday (July 4, the center is closed)

6)   Monday (July 7, 8 am – 11:30am, 12:30 – 3:00pm)

Note:

* The room is not available during the weekend. July 4, Friday, the center is closed.
* The deadline is extended to Monday (July 7, 3pm) (The deadline is not on Sunday.)

B) Office Assessment Test 2 – Excel Hands-on Test:

1)      Monday (July 14, 8 am – 11:30am, 12:30 – 3:00pm)

2)     Tuesday (July 15, 8 am – 11:30am, 12:30 – 3:00pm)

3)      Wednesday (July 16, 8 am – 11:30am, 12:30 – 6:00pm)

4)   Thursday (July 17, 8 am – 11:30am, 12:30 – 6:00pm)

5)       Friday (July 18, 8 am – 11:30am, 12:30 – 3:00pm)

C) Office Assessment Test 3 – Access Hands-on Test:
